Salary: USD 81,000 - 95,000 / annual

Maven Clinic, the world's largest virtual clinic for women and families, is seeking a Billing Specialist Associate to join the Payment Operations team. This role focuses on investigating and resolving complex payment and billing cases, managing reimbursement processing, and addressing payment discrepancies for members. You will serve as an expert on billing and cost-share determinations, executing backend system corrective actions and investigating escalated cases including reimbursement processing discrepancies, accumulator/cost-share issues, eligibility questions, and claims lifecycle/adjudication processing questions. You'll coordinate with internal teams including Member Benefits Services, Adjudication, Payment Operations, Product, Client Success, and Client Operations. Maintaining complete, audit-ready documentation on every case is essential. This role reports to the Manager of Payments and is part of a mission-driven organization that has raised over $425 million and been recognized by TIME, CNBC, Fast Company, and Fortune for innovation and workplace culture. Workplace: Maven operates a flexible hybrid model. For New York City-based team members, in-person collaboration is required three days per week (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday). For those in Boston, DC, Chicago, Seattle, and San Francisco, monthly Work Together Days are required in those cities. Remote work is available for those in these secondary hubs. REQUIREMENTS: - Bachelor's degree in Healthcare Administration, Finance, Business Operations, or related field; or equivalent experience preferred - 3-6 years of relevant experience in medical billing, health benefits, or payment escalation management - Understanding of medical billing, reimbursement processing, insurance claims processing, and revenue cycle management - Working knowledge of the payments lifecycle, benefits design, and claim adjudication - Familiarity with ticketing tools (Jira, Zendesk) and reporting tools (Google Sheets, Looker) - Highly detail-oriented and structured with strong organizational skills - Strong critical-thinking skills for root-cause analysis and sound judgment on escalation decisions - Outstanding verbal and written communication, able to translate billing and payments data into clear recovery plans - Strong cross-functional collaboration skills - Ability to adapt to shifting priorities in a fast-paced environment - Creative problem-solver with resourcefulness to drive innovative escalation strategies - Active work authorization in the US required
