E2B is a Series A startup with $37M in funding and 8-figure revenue, building the Agent Cloud infrastructure powering AI labs and widely-used consumer and enterprise agents including Manus, Genspark, Lindy, Groq, and Artificial Analysis. The team includes original authors of Firecracker (AWS microVM technology) and alumni from Cognition, JetBrains, Zapier, and Wish.
You will own billing end-to-end at E2B, taking responsibility for everything that touches how the company charges customers, collects revenue, and captures the underlying data. This includes the metering pipeline, Stripe integration, invoicing, collections, and the billing surfaces developers see in the dashboard. Your code will be responsible for collecting data metrics, creating and sending invoices, and reconciling payments for customers globally.
The company has an existing billing system that you will take over and redesign from the ground up. Engineering, finance, and customers all depend on this system and the data it produces, and you'll work across all three functions. You'll be the person who can explain to customers why their invoices look the way they do.
Key responsibilities:
- Own the services behind billing end-to-end: usage metering, charge calculation, invoicing, payments, and underlying data models
- Own the Stripe integration end-to-end, including subscriptions, Billing Meters, and enterprise invoicing edge cases
- Build billing automation for failed-payment recovery, collections, proration, plan changes, credits, refunds, and disputes
- Work with engineers across Core, Platform, and Dashboard teams to get the data billing depends on and define contracts for it
- Partner with finance on reconciliation, revenue reporting, and audit-readiness
- Make architectural decisions around observability, testing, and security

REQUIREMENTS:
- 5+ years of backend engineering experience with deep expertise in billing systems
- Deep expertise in Go
- Strong API design skills (REST/RPC, contracts, versioning)
- Solid PostgreSQL knowledge: schema design, query optimization, migrations, reasoning about data at scale
- Backend fundamentals: authentication/authorization, server-side performance, real-time data flows (WebSockets, SSE)
- Experienced with charging logic, collections, billing automation, and billing-related data flows
- Comfortable with complex invoicing, SKUs, usage-based and contract-based billing, and third-party payment platforms
- Understanding of metric collection, metered usage, pay-as-you-go models, and billing cycles
- Ability to translate finance requirements into well-tested code
- Strong cross-functional communication skills, especially with finance teams
- Comfortable owning a system end-to-end with high autonomy
- Able to work through ambiguity and figure things out independently
