Shift Technology is an AI-driven insurance platform company that delivers AI agents transforming critical insurance workflows. The Engineering team solves complex problems through collaborative, scalable software and data platform development.
As a BI & Data Engineer, you will develop and maintain scalable data models and data access layer frameworks that serve as the foundation for centralized databases and downstream applications including dashboards and feature computations. You'll build and optimize ETL pipelines to ingest, transform, and integrate various data sources using .NET libraries, dbt, Apache Spark, and analytical tools, ensuring data consistency, quality, and availability.
You will collaborate closely with product teams to translate roadmap priorities into technical designs and work hand-in-hand with Data Scientists to create frameworks that simplify customer data integration and support advanced analytics workflows. Participation in Agile processes—sprint planning, stand-ups, retrospectives—ensures continuous delivery and alignment with team goals. You'll also participate in code reviews, deployment processes, and monitoring to ensure high-quality production releases.
The tech stack includes .NET Core (C#), Python, MS SQL Server, Spark, Azure Data Factory, Databricks, GoodData, and Terraform, with progression toward distributed data systems on cloud platforms handling both batch and real-time processing.
You bring at least 2 years of professional experience in Data Engineering or Software Engineering focused on data projects, with demonstrated ability to deliver production-quality solutions. Strong expertise with data visualization tools (PowerBI, GoodData, Tableau) is essential, with daily usage expected. You have solid object-oriented design knowledge (C# is a plus), strong data exploration skills using Python, and a practical, problem-solving mindset. Excellent teamwork and communication skills are critical in this international, distributed environment where English is the working language.
