Astranis builds advanced satellites for high orbits, providing dedicated, secure networks to large enterprises, sovereign governments, and the US military. With five satellites on orbit and a backlog exceeding $1 billion in commercial contracts, the company is expanding rapidly.
As Avionics Components Team Lead, you will directly manage and grow a team of junior and senior electrical engineers focused on sensor and actuator components within avionics systems. You'll lead the design, build, and implementation of in-house component hardware and systems that push the boundaries of geo-synchronous spacecraft design.
Key responsibilities include:
- Directly manage and develop a growing team of electrical engineers
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to define spacecraft sensor and actuator requirements and architectures
- Oversee hardware design, specification, component selection, circuit board design, implementation, verification, and debugging
- Manage detailed schedules to synchronize hardware development with overall program timelines
- Own technical relationships with third-party component suppliers
- Support production and mission operations teams on hardware build and in-flight deployment
- Drive team growth through recruiting, interviewing, and hiring
Required qualifications: B.S. or higher in electrical or computer engineering; 5+ years in fast-paced product design cycles; 5+ years of board-level electronics hardware design from concept through production; demonstrated hands-on hardware design, build, and test capabilities; proven ability to build and manage engineering teams; strong analog/mixed-signal circuit design skills; US Citizenship or Green Card.
Bonus experience includes signal conditioning and sensor design, FPGAs and microcontrollers, C/C++/Python proficiency, radiation effects knowledge, and environmental testing experience.
