Convene Hospitality Group is seeking an Audio Visual Technology Manager to lead technical operations at their premier Brookfield Place location (225 Liberty Street) in Manhattan. This role sits at the intersection of hospitality, live events, and cutting-edge AV technology, overseeing the seamless technical execution of meetings, conferences, and immersive brand activations.
You will manage all audio-visual, networking, and IT services delivered to clients and internal teams, including audio/video conferencing, webcasting, lighting, and desktop support. You'll lead a team of AV Specialists, directing day-to-day floor operations including setup, strike, and scheduling. Key responsibilities include:
**Operations Management:**
- Troubleshoot and support AV equipment (audio mixers, wireless microphones, video switchers, projectors, lighting systems, Crestron control systems, networking hardware)
- Coordinate with clients in advance to preprogram and ensure all technological requirements are in place
- Provide consultative support to the sales team for client programs
- Direct day-to-day floor operations, including set/strike and scheduling
- Develop weekly execution schedules and coordinate resource sharing across locations
- Maintain positive client relationships and assist with requests during programs
- Prepare comprehensive sales quotes using revenue-maximizing strategies
- Enforce booking guidelines and optimize space utilization through audits and program execution meetings
**Team Leadership & Development:**
- Hire, mentor, and develop AV Specialists
- Participate in employee appraisals and foster positive employee relations
- Stay current on industry developments and AV trends
- Review departmental SOPs quarterly
**Financial Responsibility:**
- Track labor hours and dollar amounts for client programs
- Review P&L/General Ledger reports for accuracy
- Approve and submit vendor invoices
- Participate in annual budgeting
This is a fast-paced role requiring flexibility, including long and weekend hours. You'll work collaboratively with sales, planning, and production teams to deliver exceptional guest experiences at one of NYC's most iconic destinations.
**Requirements:**
- 4+ years of experience managing IT and AV equipment, plus computer software systems
- Proven leadership experience managing team members
- Extensive knowledge of audiovisual equipment: analog/digital audio mixers, wireless microphone systems, video switchers, projectors/displays
- Understanding of Crestron control systems and hardware endpoints
- Basic knowledge of data networking principles, architecture, and applications
- Experience with installation, configuration, operation, and administration of operating systems and hardware (Macs, PCs, LANs, servers)
- Ability to lead and manage team members effectively, collaborating with internal and external clients
- Familiarity with CRM applications
- Customer service or hospitality experience preferred
- Physical ability to move/lift up to 25 pounds, reach overhead and below knees, stand/sit/walk for extended periods, and work on ladders for lengthy periods
- Specific technical qualifications: 4-24 channel mixers, Biamp Tesira systems, Crestron DM/NVX systems, Wi-Fi troubleshooting, DHCP/Static IP addressing, video codec operation
