Starburst is seeking an Associate Product Marketing Manager to help translate complex data and AI infrastructure products into clear customer value and drive go-to-market success. The company delivers enterprise intelligence at scale using open standards like Trino and Apache Iceberg, enabling organizations to access distributed data securely without vendor lock-in.
In this hands-on role reporting to the Head of Product Marketing, you will own the full product marketing lifecycle: developing messaging and positioning grounded in customer problems, translating technical capabilities into stories for technical buyers and business stakeholders, and partnering with Product Managers early in development. You will lead product launches from strategy through execution, including target audience definition, messaging, customer-facing assets, and internal readiness. You'll build evaluation materials such as architectural narratives, demos, proof points, competitive guidance, and analyst materials.
You will develop revenue plays connecting customer pain points to Starburst capabilities, then equip Marketing and the sales field to execute them consistently. This includes creating seller enablement for Account Executives, SDRs, and Solution Architects through playbooks, pitch materials, competitive guidance, and objection handling. You'll gather customer, buyer, and competitive intelligence through interviews, win/loss analysis, and direct customer conversations, then measure impact using product adoption metrics, launch engagement, pipeline contribution, and qualitative field evidence.
As part of a growing Product Marketing function, you'll help establish operating systems including reusable messaging frameworks, launch processes, templates, and planning cadences. You'll work closely with Product, Engineering, Marketing, Sales Development, Account Executives, Solution Architects, RevOps, and enablement teams. The role requires up to 25% travel for onboarding, offsites, customer engagements, and field events.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Approximately 3–5 years of experience in product marketing, product management, data/business analysis, solutions consulting, sales enablement, GTM strategy, or related roles (prior Product Marketing experience welcome but not required)
- Ability to understand technical products and explain value in concise, customer-friendly language
- Strong writing, synthesis, presentation, and storytelling skills
- Bias toward execution: prioritize useful customer-facing work, move quickly through ambiguity, improve based on market feedback
- Commercial judgment and interest in connecting product investments to customer adoption, pipeline, and revenue
- Curiosity and technical aptitude to develop fluency in modern data platforms, analytics, AI infrastructure, and competitive landscape
- Strong cross-functional relationship skills and confidence working with Product Managers, engineers, marketers, executives, sellers, and customers
- Willingness to seek real customer and field evidence rather than relying on internal assumptions
- Ability to travel up to 25%
NICE TO HAVE:
- Experience as data engineer, BI/data analyst, solutions engineer, technical marketer, or PMM for technical infrastructure products
- Familiarity with SQL, data platforms, lakehouses, federated query, Trino, Apache Iceberg, cloud data warehouses, or enterprise AI
- Experience translating roadmaps into differentiated positioning and executing launches
- Comfort with technically detailed subject matter alongside Product and Engineering
- Experience in GTM strategy, sales enablement, campaign strategy, or revenue programs
- Experience building plays that align product capabilities, marketing campaigns, seller activity, and revenue outcomes
- Familiarity with buyer research, win/loss analysis, competitive intelligence, or pipeline analysis
- Experience working directly with AEs, SDRs, Solution Architects, RevOps, or demand generation teams
