Adyen is a global financial technology platform providing payments, data, and financial products for enterprise customers including Meta, Uber, H&M, and Microsoft. The company is seeking an Associate Privacy Counsel to join the Global DPO Office in Amsterdam.
In this role, you will serve as an operational hub for Adyen's global data protection program, owning critical day-to-day privacy workflows and driving scalability of compliance processes. You will act as the first point of contact for privacy inquiries from internal stakeholders, customers, and external parties. Key responsibilities include coordinating and triaging incoming privacy requests, supporting data subject rights requests and privacy incident handling from intake through resolution, and assisting business teams in navigating privacy processes and completing required documentation.
You will help maintain privacy governance documentation including processing records, knowledge resources, and privacy notices. The role involves supporting operational privacy assessments such as Legitimate Interest Assessments (LIAs) and Transfer Impact Assessments (TIAs). You will partner with Legal and cross-functional teams to provide practical privacy support across commercial and corporate initiatives, maintain privacy tooling and governance platforms like OneTrust, and support compliance activities by coordinating evidence and assisting with audit requests.
A key aspect of this position is leveraging AI enablement tools to automate queues, streamline workflows, and drive operational efficiency. You will contribute to the effective day-to-day operation of the DPO Office through coordination, administration, and continuous process maintenance.
Required qualifications include 3+ years of relevant privacy experience with GDPR and operational privacy compliance. Experience in payments, financial services, or fintech is beneficial. In-house legal or privacy team experience is preferred, though privacy consultancy or law firm background is also valued. Familiarity with privacy management platforms like OneTrust is advantageous. Exposure to privacy laws beyond the EU (CCPA/CPRA, Latin America, Middle East & Africa) is a plus. You should possess exceptional organizational skills, a proactive mindset, strong ownership mentality, and high receptiveness to utilizing AI tools. Knowledge of emerging frameworks such as the EU AI Act and AI Governance is highly desired. Strong ability to translate complex legal concepts into practical guidance for non-legal business partners is essential, along with excellent written and spoken English and strong drafting skills.
