The Associate Principal, Outcomes Researcher is a senior PhD-level individual contributor on the Clinical Strategy & Research team, reporting to the Senior Director of Quality & Value-Based Care. This role serves as Modern Health's primary research authority for evidence generation, owning the peer-reviewed publication pipeline, designing outcomes measurement frameworks, and translating clinical findings into go-to-market and value-based care strategy.
Key responsibilities include:
**Outcomes Measurement & Platform Evidence:**
- Design and own outcomes measurement frameworks capturing clinical improvement, sustained functioning, and return-to-productivity across the Modern Health platform
- Analyze longitudinal outcomes data including symptom severity, engagement, and recovery trajectories, translating results into actionable findings for cross-functional partners
- Build validated, scalable methods for measuring clinical effectiveness across member populations and benefit configurations
- Partner with Data, Product, Tech, and Legal teams to ensure outcomes infrastructure supports research and reporting needs
**Publication & Evidence Strategy:**
- Lead peer-reviewed publication strategy, identifying research priorities aligned with clinical impact and market differentiation
- Design rigorous studies leveraging Modern Health's platform data to generate publishable evidence
- Serve as primary scientific authority representing Modern Health's evidence base to academic collaborators and enterprise clients
**Value-Based Care & Go-to-Market:**
- Translate outcomes research into compelling value propositions for enterprise customers
- Support development of outcomes-based contracting models and ROI frameworks
- Collaborate with Sales, Marketing, and Product teams to communicate clinical evidence effectively
The ideal candidate is an independent, prolific researcher with a strong publication record, PhD-level expertise in clinical research or health outcomes, and credibility within the academic and clinical research community. This is a fully remote role with US-based team members expected to maintain overlap with Pacific time zone hours (minimum 6 hours between 8am-5pm PT daily).
