Pomelo Care is seeking an experienced healthcare attorney to join its Legal, Privacy and Compliance team as Associate General Counsel. The role focuses on legal matters at the intersection of healthcare, product, privacy, and AI governance, reporting to the General Counsel.
Key responsibilities include serving as a senior legal partner on healthcare regulatory, product, and privacy matters; providing practical, risk-informed guidance to product, engineering, clinical, and operations teams as new features and care delivery models launch; and leading the company's responsible AI governance program in partnership with cross-functional leaders.
The ideal candidate brings 10+ years of legal experience, including substantial in-house experience at a fast-paced healthcare or health tech company. Required expertise includes healthcare regulatory law (fraud and abuse statutes, telehealth regulations, Medicaid reimbursement), HIPAA and state consumer privacy laws, and high-stakes product development in technology-driven environments. Demonstrated experience leading AI/ML governance initiatives in clinical settings is essential.
The candidate should be a mentor-leader with direct management experience overseeing legal professionals, strong communication skills to translate complex legal concepts into actionable business guidance, and the ability to manage ambiguity with a bias toward action. Active U.S. bar membership and JD from an accredited law school are required.
Bonus qualifications include experience with data governance, research studies, and supporting legal function scaling or new market launches.
