As Associate General Counsel, you will be the primary legal resource for Range's business teams, reporting directly to the Chief Legal Officer. This is a builder's role at an early-stage legal function with significant autonomy and direct access to executive leadership.
Key responsibilities include:
- Draft, review, revise, and negotiate commercial agreements (vendor, SaaS, technology, NDAs) independently and at volume
- Own the full contract lifecycle and build templates and playbooks to accelerate Range's growth
- Partner with the compliance team on regulatory matters specific to investment adviser and broker-dealer operations, including marketing review, member disclosures, and policies
- Support responses to regulatory inquiries and examinations
- Serve as a responsive, plain-English legal resource across product, engineering, finance, sales, marketing, and operations
- Support corporate and transactional work including financings, strategic partnerships, M&A diligence, board resolutions, and equity documentation
- Collaborate with product and engineering to surface legal and regulatory considerations early in development
- Track fintech and wealth management regulatory developments and help shape Range's response
- Build internal training and self-service resources for business teams
- Manage relationships with outside counsel on specialized matters
You'll need a JD from an accredited law school and active bar membership (VA, DC, or MD preferred). The ideal candidate has 3+ years of post-JD experience, including time in-house at a technology company, financial services firm, or fintech organization. A mix of law firm and in-house experience is valued. You should demonstrate strong business judgment, excellent drafting and communication skills, comfort with startup environments, and genuine willingness to learn regulatory frameworks governing investment advisory and broker-dealer businesses.
