Genomics is a science-led transatlantic TechBio company combining large-scale genetic and health data with proprietary analytics to accelerate drug discovery and advance predictive, preventative healthcare. The company operates two core businesses: Mystra, a SaaS data and analytics platform for drug discovery, and a technology-enabled consultancy business.
As Associate Director/Director of Business Development, you will be a senior commercial leader responsible for driving high-value, strategic new business into the Research & Development arms of global pharmaceutical and biotech companies. This is a hunter role focused on closing complex enterprise sales cycles, not account management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Own and drive significant new commercial opportunities across pharma and biotech, building multi-stakeholder relationships at senior and executive levels
- Lead complex, high-value sales cycles from initial outreach through contract close
- Invest deeply in understanding clients' long-term R&D and data strategies, positioning Genomics as a critical scientific partner
- Bring sophisticated market intelligence on the life sciences landscape, feeding insights back into go-to-market strategy
- Maintain high standards for pipeline hygiene, accurate forecasting, and strategic reporting to senior leadership and board
- Act as the internal voice of the customer, collaborating with Product, Science, and Marketing teams to ensure commercial strategy delivers genuine scientific value
You will operate as a key senior individual contributor in a fast-moving Commercial team, with your success directly shaping the company's trajectory. The role is based in the Raleigh-Durham office with hybrid flexibility.
Requirements:
- Substantial, proven track record of net-new enterprise SaaS, digital health, or technology sales into pharma and biotech, with demonstrable success closing complex, high-value deals
- Deep experience selling directly into Research, Discovery, and R&D departments inside major pharmaceutical companies
- Ability to navigate senior scientific and commercial stakeholders with ease
- Strong working knowledge of genetics or genomics; ability to speak credibly and compellingly about advanced genetic analytics for drug discovery
- Strategic thinking about markets, positioning, and competitive landscapes
- Self-directed, senior operator who thrives in fast-paced scale-up environments
- Degree in Life Sciences, Business, or related field required; advanced degree (MSc/PhD) is a genuine asset
