Iambic Therapeutics, a clinical-stage biotech company applying AI and machine learning to drug discovery and development, is seeking an Associate Director of SEC Reporting and Technical Accounting to lead the Finance Team's external reporting function. Reporting to the Controller/Director of Accounting, you will own the end-to-end SEC reporting strategy and execution, including preparation and timely filing of Forms 10-K, 10-Q, 8-K, proxy statements, and other required filings. You will manage key components of external reporting such as financial statements, footnotes, MD&A, disclosure checklists, XBRL tagging, and supporting workpapers. You will establish and manage the quarterly and annual reporting calendar, coordinate inputs across Legal, Equity Administration, FP&A, and Human Resources, and drive timely resolution of review comments. You will serve as the company's technical accounting subject matter expert on U.S. GAAP and SEC regulations, researching and documenting conclusions on complex transactions including collaboration and licensing arrangements, business development transactions, equity financings, stock-based compensation, leases, and earnings per share calculations. A critical responsibility is establishing, implementing, and evolving the company's Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) compliance framework, including risk assessment, control design, documentation, testing, remediation, and optimization. You will develop company-wide policies and governance structures related to financial reporting and internal controls, stay current on FASB, SEC, and PCAOB pronouncements, and serve as the primary liaison with external auditors and third-party advisors. You will prepare materials for the Audit Committee, Board of Directors, and senior management, and act as a strategic partner to executive leadership on financial reporting, compliance, and risk management matters. QUALIFICATIONS: - Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field with 10-12+ years of progressive accounting experience; combination of Big 4 public accounting and public-company industry experience preferred; active CPA license required. - Extensive experience leading SEC reporting and SOX compliance in a public or recently public company; biotechnology or life sciences experience strongly preferred. - Deep expertise in U.S. GAAP, SEC reporting requirements (Regulations S-X and S-K), and public company disclosure practices. - Demonstrated experience designing, implementing, and managing SOX 404 compliance programs and internal control frameworks. - Hands-on experience researching complex accounting matters and preparing technical accounting memoranda across stock-based compensation, licensing and collaboration arrangements, equity transactions, and leases. - Proven track record working with abstract, complex issues and translating them into actionable strategy and execution. - Exceptional written and verbal communication, influence, and negotiation skills; ability to translate complex accounting matters into clear, decision-useful conclusions. - Experience with NetSuite, financial reporting platforms (ActiveDisclosure, Workiva), and equity administration platforms (e.g., Equity Edge) preferred. - Demonstrated interest in leveraging automation, data analytics, or emerging AI technologies to enhance financial reporting and compliance processes preferred.
