Salary: USD 152,600 - 283,400 / annual
DTX Pharma, a Novartis Company, is seeking an Associate Director of Metadata and Semantics to lead enterprise data governance and metadata excellence initiatives. In this role, you will shape Novartis' data ecosystem by establishing metadata standards, frameworks, and operating practices that ensure data is trusted, discoverable, and AI-ready across the organization.
Key responsibilities include defining and advancing enterprise metadata standards and policies; leading metadata capture, curation, validation, and lifecycle management across data assets; establishing metadata requirements for certified data products and AI-ready datasets; ensuring accurate documentation of ownership, lineage, classifications, quality rules, and business definitions; partnering with data modeling teams to align metadata with enterprise data structures; collaborating with data governance and stewardship teams to improve transparency and trust; driving automation of metadata ingestion and lineage capture; supporting data product certification; leading metadata issue resolution and root cause analysis; and championing enterprise data discoverability and adoption of data catalog capabilities.
You will work cross-functionally with leaders in data governance, engineering, quality, and analytics to accelerate breakthrough insights that improve patient outcomes. Required qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Data Management, Information Systems, Computer Science, Analytics, Engineering, or related field; 8+ years of experience in metadata management, data governance, data catalog implementation, data stewardship, data architecture, or related data roles; experience supporting enterprise data catalog, business glossary, lineage, data product, or data governance programs; and experience partnering with business and technical stakeholders to define metadata standards and improve data discoverability.
Desirable qualifications include an advanced degree or professional certification in data management, data governance, cloud technologies, or data architecture, and experience in complex, regulated, or enterprise-scale data environments. The role is based in East Hanover, New Jersey, with potential for remote work subject to legal entity restrictions. No relocation support or visa sponsorship is available.
