Scopely, a leading video game and interactive entertainment company, is seeking an Associate Counsel, Product & Privacy to join its legal team in Barcelona on a hybrid basis. You will report to the Senior Director and serve as day-to-day product counsel for multiple game teams, advising on new features, in-game events, launches, live operations, and player-facing initiatives across a diverse portfolio including MONOPOLY GO!, Pokémon GO, and others.
Key responsibilities include: providing product counsel to game teams across various genres; advising on marketing, advertising, and user acquisition matters; leading legal support for tournaments, contests, sweepstakes, and promotions with international considerations; supporting intellectual property strategy including naming, branding, trademark, copyright, and licensing; assisting with EU regulatory initiatives affecting video games; handling routine privacy and data protection questions; and developing proactive guidance through training, templates, and scalable resources.
You will work at the intersection of game teams (Marketing, Engineering, Art, User Acquisition, Player Experience, Community), QA, Infosec, and other legal and business functions in a fast-paced environment. The role emphasizes practical problem-solving, connecting stakeholders across functions, and identifying opportunities to improve legal processes through standardization, automation, and responsible AI tool use.
Required qualifications: minimum 3 years of legal experience at a law firm or technology/entertainment/gaming/consumer company; strong practical experience with marketing, advertising, IP matters (promotions, trademarks, copyright, asset clearance); working knowledge of privacy and data protection; bachelor's degree (MSc preferred); fluent English (Spanish a plus); exceptional organizational, communication, and collaboration skills.
Desired: experience with global teams across time zones; mobile game development or consumer-facing business background; legal operations or process improvement experience; familiarity with gaming industry legal issues.
