Salary: USD 145,000 - 165,000 / annual

The Associate Counsel, Employment will serve as a trusted legal advisor on employment and labor matters, reporting to the Senior Counsel, Employment. This role will partner across all business functions—People, Information Security, Sales, Marketing, Finance, Product, and Content—to support AlphaSense's growth objectives.
Key responsibilities include:
- Provide legal and strategic advice on global employment matters including employee relations, terminations, compliance, background screenings, benefits, immigration, recruiting, and compensation
- Manage employment-related disputes, complaints, litigation, and investigations
- Draft, negotiate, and review employment agreements, addenda, and amendments
- Partner with the People team to develop company policies
- Advise on the use of AI technology in employee relations, recruiting, and hiring processes
- Stay informed of evolving global employment laws, regulations, and industry guidance
- Create and enhance playbooks to scale the legal function as the company grows
- Work effectively across functional groups and time zones in a dynamic environment
The role is remote in the United States with a preference for the East Coast. You will be expected to be responsive, business-minded, pragmatic about legal risk, and capable of supporting difficult positions with firmness and patience.
REQUIREMENTS:
- J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school and admission to, and good standing with, a state bar
- Minimum 3+ years' experience advising clients on employment and labor matters, either in-house or with a nationally recognized law firm (or combination)
- Knowledge of employment laws and regulations including Title VII, Americans with Disabilities Act, Family and Medical Leave Act, Equal Employment Opportunity laws, wage and hour laws, background check laws, benefits laws, immigration, and international/federal/state/local laws
- Superior business acumen with commitment to responsive client service; business-friendly and pragmatic mindset while maintaining appropriate legal risk balance
- Strong negotiation skills, effective communication, and ability to interact professionally with internal and external stakeholders of all backgrounds
- Energetic, authentic, and friendly demeanor with strong interpersonal skills
