General Legal is an AI-native law firm delivering high-quality commercial contract work faster and more predictably than traditional firms. The firm combines experienced U.S.-barred attorneys with AI-native workflows to handle drafting, review, and negotiation end-to-end without billable hours or junior handoffs.
As an Associate Commercial Counsel, you will draft, review, and negotiate a high-volume caseload of technology and commercial agreements, including SaaS, vendor, licensing, and partnership agreements. You'll work end-to-end on matters with support from AI-native workflows and senior attorneys, learning to identify risks that matter, move deals forward efficiently, and build judgment under experienced guidance.
Key responsibilities include: drafting and negotiating technology and commercial agreements; identifying commercial risks and knowing which negotiation points are worth pushing; taking on increasing ownership of matters from intake through execution; using the firm's AI legal technology daily to speed up drafting and review without sacrificing quality; advising clients directly on commercial risk and contract strategy; and translating legal complexity into plain-language guidance for business stakeholders.
The role offers structured mentorship from senior counsel, increasing complexity and autonomy over time, and a clear path toward more senior commercial counsel work. You'll contribute ideas for improving how the team uses AI and other tools in day-to-day workflows and identify process improvements and emerging opportunities.
The firm operates like a startup with modern tooling, outcome-based pricing, remote-friendly work, and meaningful ownership for team members. This is a high-growth role ideal for someone genuinely excited about the technology industry and interested in how AI can reshape legal practice.
