Ironclad is seeking an experienced legal leader to head the Product, Privacy, and IP legal function. This is a strategic role reporting to general counsel, focused on embedding legal expertise into product development cycles and scaling AI governance across the platform.
You will serve as embedded product counsel for Ironclad's portfolio of AI-enabled, agentic, and data-intensive products. This means joining product teams early—during roadmap, discovery, PRD, design, and testing phases—to identify legal, regulatory, privacy, IP, ethical, and customer trust considerations before they become launch blockers. You'll provide practical, risk-calibrated recommendations that give Product and Engineering clear paths forward, not just issue spotting. A core responsibility is establishing predictable legal processes for priority AI features, including intake, tiering, review gates, decision records, and escalation paths.
Key responsibilities include: operating and maturing a scalable, product-focused AI governance program; translating evolving AI, privacy, consumer protection, IP, and professional responsibility requirements into product requirements and launch criteria; advising on privacy-sensitive product design, data use, retention, cross-border flows, and data protection agreements; maintaining operational risk awareness around incident response, audit readiness, and customer inquiries; advising on copyright, trademark, patent, open-source, licensing, data rights, and model output issues; supporting IP clearance and protection for new product names, features, and innovations; advising on customer-facing commercial matters when product, AI, privacy, or IP questions affect deals or partnerships; participating in customer conversations as a subject matter expert; and turning recurring legal judgments into reusable systems like rubrics, checklists, templates, and playbooks.
