Kraken, one of the world's longest-standing crypto platforms founded in 2011, is seeking an Assistant General Counsel to lead commercial legal efforts for product partnerships. You will report directly to the Head of Commercial Legal and serve as the lead commercial counsel for high-visibility, complex product partnerships that support Kraken's most innovative initiatives. Key responsibilities include: driving legal strategy and execution for first-of-their-kind commercial arrangements; acting as a strategic partner to Product, Sales, Engineering, Finance, and Regulatory teams to design go-to-market structures and partnership models; advising leadership on commercial legal matters including technology agreements, strategic partnerships, and terms of service; overseeing development and continuous improvement of legal templates, playbooks, and risk management frameworks; collaborating with Compliance, Tax, and Regulatory teams to assess legal risk and unlock business opportunities; supporting contract lifecycle management and legal process automation; and assisting with M&A efforts including contract diligence and integration. You bring 8+ years of commercial legal experience, ideally combining top-tier law firm and in-house work. You have a proven track record leading complex, high-stakes commercial transactions in global environments, particularly involving technology, SaaS, or strategic partnerships. You possess deep understanding of product development and go-to-market strategies from a legal perspective, excellent contract drafting and negotiation skills, and demonstrated leadership experience including mentoring and managing high-performing teams. You operate independently and decisively in fast-paced, remote-first, innovation-driven environments. Nice-to-haves include experience in fintech, crypto, or highly regulated sectors; familiarity with vendor onboarding and procurement processes; background working with product and engineering teams on consumer-facing and enterprise products; experience with contract lifecycle management tools; and passion for crypto and Web3.
