We are seeking an Assistant Controller to join our Finance team. This role is designed as a first in-house move for a newly qualified CPA transitioning from a Big 4 firm. You will support monthly close processes, general accounting, cost and spend review, revenue accounting, and audit procedures. You will own reconciliations, cost and expense analysis, revenue and reporting workstreams, working closely with and reporting to the Director of Finance.
Key responsibilities include:
- Support the month-end close cycle, including preparation and review of balance sheet and P&L accounts and reconciliations
- Assist in preparing consolidated financial statements
- Support bank account and credit card reconciliations, and review of employee expense reports
- Review costs and spending by category, flagging unusual items, misclassifications, and budget variances
- Maintain the chart of accounts and ensure transactions are coded to correct cost centers, projects, and expense categories
- Support general accounting activities, including accruals, prepaid expenses, fixed assets, payroll entries, and intercompany transactions
- Assist in preparing VAT reports and supporting payments to authorities
- Support the annual audit, including preparation of audit schedules and supporting documentation
- Provide guidance and oversight to bookkeeping staff on day-to-day transactions
- Support ad-hoc analysis and reporting as needed
