SentiLink is a Series B fintech company building identity verification and fraud detection solutions for financial services. The company has achieved significant traction, verifying hundreds of millions of identities through real-time APIs, and is backed by top-tier investors including Andreessen Horowitz and Craft Ventures. They've been recognized by Forbes (Fintech 50), TechCrunch, and Bloomberg, and made history as the first eCBSV provider. As an Applied ML Scientist, you will develop and maintain core fraud detection models and advance SentiLink's growing suite of financial risk products. This role is ideal for PhD graduates or early-career researchers seeking hands-on experience applying machine learning to real-world fraud detection at scale, not just academic research. You will work across multiple teams including Emerging Products (0-to-1 development), Application Fraud (detecting fraud in consumer financial applications), and Identity (resolving identities across conflicting data sources and generating risk models). You'll own your domain end-to-end, working on high-visibility projects that require deep domain understanding and critical thinking. Key responsibilities include: developing and maintaining fraud detection models through the full lifecycle (data acquisition, featurization, labeling, training, experimentation, productionalization, monitoring); building foundational modeling for fraud and financial risk products; researching new fraud types and developing new products; achieving success through iterative research, new data source integration, and inventive feature engineering; writing production-ready code for real-time decision-making; designing and presenting analyses to inform data acquisition, product development, risk operations, marketing, and sales; and collaborating with engineering, risk operations, and data acquisition teams. You'll work with Python 3, PostgreSQL, and AWS infrastructure (EC2, S3, RDS, Redshift). The role emphasizes full-stack data science: model development, analysis, and production code. Success is driven by domain understanding and unusual insights rather than optimization of new ML methodologies alone. SentiLink operates as a digital-first company with offices in Austin, San Francisco, New York, Seattle, Los Angeles, and Chicago in the US, plus Gurugram and Bengaluru in India. The company supports flexible work arrangements, with a strong preference for candidates near Austin, San Francisco, or New York offices.
