As an Applied Machine Learning Scientist, you will lead the development of state-of-the-art ML approaches for generating Digital Twins—probabilistic models that predict a patient's future health outcomes based on their current and past medical history. You'll work with a team of world-class ML scientists and take end-to-end ownership of your mission, investigating broadly to find the right tools and techniques.
Key responsibilities include:
- Design and implement machine learning models to characterize and predict disease progression
- Apply and fine-tune proprietary architectures to real-world clinical data
- Clearly communicate technical findings to internal and external stakeholders
- Stay current with ML field developments to inform Unlearn's modeling work
- Represent Unlearn to the broader scientific community
Minimum qualifications:
- B.S. in computer science, engineering, physics, mathematics, or related field
- 2+ years developing ML models and adapting them to real-world problems
- Strong software engineering fundamentals
- Fluency in Python ML and data science ecosystem
- Proven track record executing ML projects in academic or industrial settings
- Demonstrated intellectual curiosity and independent exploration of new techniques
Bonus experience includes contributions to open-source ML tools, expertise in unsupervised learning, EBM, NLP, LLMs, optimization theory, or reinforcement learning, prior healthcare/clinical ML work, and AWS familiarity.
