As Applied ML Manager for Application Fraud, you will lead a team of 4 applied ML scientists (growing to 6 by end of 2026), all technically experienced and capable of challenging you daily. This is a hands-on people management role where you remain close to the technical work—coaching, reviewing code, and contributing directly on high-impact problems.
Key responsibilities include:
- Direct management of the ML science team, setting engineering and modeling practices
- End-to-end ownership of execution: priorities, delivery, and measurable results
- Mentoring team members through model development, experimentation, and technical decision-making
- Hands-on involvement in code review and production systems
- Partnership with senior leadership, Product, Engineering, and Risk to prioritize and deliver impactful ML solutions
- Development and improvement of fraud detection and identity models across the full lifecycle: data acquisition, feature engineering, labeling strategy, model training, experimentation, production deployment, monitoring, and iteration
- Research into emerging fraud patterns and new ML capabilities for identity verification and financial risk
- Exploration of AI integration within products, with attention to AI safety and data governance
You'll work with Python 3, PostgreSQL, AWS, XGBoost, scikit-learn, pandas, Elasticsearch/OpenSearch, Neo4j, MLflow, Flyte, and modern LLM tooling. The role offers a clear growth path into strategic leadership spanning both product and ML domains.
