Salary: USD 275,000 - 315,000 / annual
Anthropic is seeking an Applied AI Architect to serve as a pre-sales technical advisor for federal civilian agencies. In this role, you will be the primary technical expert guiding state and local government customers through their Claude AI adoption journey—from initial discovery and evaluation through successful deployment and integration.
You will partner closely with account executives, sales, product, and engineering teams to translate complex government requirements into scalable LLM solutions. Your responsibilities include:
• Partnering with account executives to understand customer requirements and align business objectives with technical implementation
• Serving as the primary technical advisor throughout the Claude adoption lifecycle, coordinating across internal teams to drive customer success
• Supporting customers building with Claude Code, the Claude API, and Claude for Enterprise
• Creating and delivering technical content tailored to diverse audiences—from deep technical dives for engineering teams to business-value conversations with C-suite executives
• Guiding technical architecture decisions and helping customers integrate Claude into their existing technology stacks
• Developing evaluation frameworks to measure Claude's performance for specific use cases
• Identifying common integration patterns and contributing insights to Product and Engineering teams
• Traveling frequently to customer sites for workshops, technical deep dives, and relationship building
• Maintaining strong knowledge of the latest LLM capabilities and implementation patterns
This is a hybrid role with an expectation of at least 25% in-office time, though some roles may require more. You will be based in either San Francisco or New York City.
**Requirements:**
• Must have prior experience working with US federal, state, and/or local agencies (federal experience is required)
• 5+ years of experience in technical customer-facing roles such as Solutions Architect, Sales Engineer, or Technical Account Manager
• Experience navigating complex buying cycles involving multiple stakeholders
• Exceptional ability to build relationships and communicate technical concepts to diverse stakeholders including C-suite executives, engineering and IT teams
• Strong technical communication skills with ability to translate between technical and business stakeholders
• Experience designing scalable cloud architectures and integrating with enterprise systems
• Familiarity with Python
• Familiarity with common LLM frameworks and tools, or background in machine learning or data science
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to convey complex topics in understandable terms
• Passion for safe and beneficial AI systems
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education, training, and professional experience in a field relevant to the role
• Security clearance is not required but is a plus
