Smava is Germany's leading online credit comparison platform, serving over 300,000 customers. The Data Platform team is seeking an Analytics Engineer to join a collaborative 6-person team based in Berlin.
In this role, you will build, maintain, and optimize reliable data pipelines and transformation models using dbt and Dagster. You'll collaborate closely with business stakeholders and analysts to understand data requirements and translate them into actionable solutions. Your responsibilities include contributing to centralized reporting models using Data Vault principles, designing intuitive reports and analyses in Tableau or Hex, and ensuring data reliability and quality through robust testing and documentation.
You'll work with a modern tech stack including AWS (S3, Redshift, Aurora, Glue, DMS, EC2, ECS, Fargate, Lambda), dbt, Dagster, Python, Tableau, and Hex. You'll also participate actively in team decisions regarding technical best practices, goals, and timelines.
Required qualifications include 2+ years of experience as an Analytics Engineer, Data Analyst, BI Developer, or similar role. You need strong SQL skills for writing clean, optimized queries on complex datasets, hands-on experience with dbt and modular modeling, and experience with BI tools (preferably Tableau and Hex). Good communication skills and familiarity with AI-assisted development tools like GitHub Copilot are essential.
Nice-to-have skills include experience with cloud data warehouses (Amazon Redshift), Data Vault architecture, orchestration tools like Dagster or Airflow, modern data architecture patterns, and FinTech or banking sector experience.
