Salary: USD 152,000 - 190,000 / annual
Tailscale is seeking an Analytics Engineer to build reliable, scalable data infrastructure for a fully distributed, venture-backed secure networking platform. In this hands-on role, you'll design and maintain production-grade dbt models (including complex revenue recognition and ARR calculations), work across the full data pipeline from ingestion through visualization, and collaborate with Finance, Engineering, Sales, and Product teams to deliver data solutions that drive decision-making.
Key responsibilities include diving into complex systems and manual workflows to understand constraints, designing clean and scalable data models in dbt, working pragmatically to balance quick wins with long-term architecture, and supporting cross-functional stakeholders with timely, practical data solutions. You'll take ownership of transforming ad hoc processes into reliable, auditable pipelines.
Required qualifications: production-grade data modeling and pipeline experience, deep knowledge of modern data modeling principles, strong SQL skills with complex datasets, meticulous attention to data accuracy and validation, flexibility in navigating imperfect systems, passion for clean code and scalable architecture, strong time management and prioritization in fast-moving environments, and clear communication with both technical and non-technical collaborators.
Nice-to-have experience includes high-growth PLG SaaS, transforming manual workflows into scalable pipelines, billing systems and GAAP accounting, familiarity with Stripe/Salesforce/Orb, and understanding of financial cycles and month/quarter-end iteration needs.
