Salary: USD 160,000 - 190,000 / annual
Thatch is building software that gives employees real control over their health benefits. As an Analytics Engineer, you'll own the data models, metrics, and dashboards that power the company's decision-making across leadership, growth, finance, and operations. Your work directly impacts real money and real healthcare decisions, so reliability and consistency are paramount—but you'll also focus on making data simple and accessible for the teams who depend on it.
You'll take ownership of meaningful metrics and data products from definition through adoption. This includes building and maintaining dbt models that define how the business is measured, designing dashboards used by growth, finance, and operations teams for day-to-day decisions, and improving data quality through testing, monitoring, and validation. A key part of the role is enabling self-serve analytics so teams can answer their own questions and move faster without constant ad hoc requests.
The tech stack includes dbt and SQL for modeling, Snowflake as the data warehouse (migrating from Redshift), Omni for BI with Hex for ad hoc analysis, and GitHub with CI/CD for version control. AI tools like Claude, ChatGPT, and Copilot are integrated into daily workflows. You won't work directly in the application layer, but understanding source data from systems like Ruby on Rails is important.
You should have production experience building analytics models and dashboards, strong SQL skills with dbt or similar tools, and working Python knowledge for ad hoc analysis. Strong intuition for metric design—including grain, aggregation, and edge cases—is essential. You'll work closely with stakeholders to translate problems into metrics, models, and analytic tools, balancing speed, accuracy, and maintainability.
Experience that stands out includes data testing and CI/CD, partnering with finance or go-to-market teams, building self-serve analytics tools, and working in healthcare, fintech, or other regulated domains.
