Hex is a data analytics platform that empowers users to explore data using natural language and code. The company has raised over $100M from top-tier investors including Sequoia and a16z, and serves thousands of customers like Ramp, Figma, and Anthropic.
As an Analytics Engineer on Hex's Data team, you'll play a central role in shaping how data teams operate in the AI era. This is a full-stack data role requiring both analytical thinking and hands-on data modeling in dbt. You don't need to be an expert in both areas—being stronger in one is fine, and you should be willing to develop skills in whichever area is less familiar, leveraging AI tools to supplement your expertise.
Your day-to-day work will focus on partnering with the Growth and Monetization team to evolve Hex's pricing and packaging strategy. You'll conduct analysis on what drives successful sales POCs and self-service trials, help evaluate and evolve monetization approaches as the product evolves, and continuously test new tools and workflows within Hex itself. You'll also share feedback with product teams and help train colleagues on effective data workspace usage.
You bring 8+ years of experience as a data analyst, analytics engineer, data scientist, or in a highly analytical role. You're comfortable navigating ambiguity, have a track record of maximizing business impact, and are curious about emerging technologies. You have strong SQL and dbt skills, experience maintaining data warehouses and ELT pipelines, and a drive for quality and maintainability. Experience at sales-driven B2B companies, familiarity with emerging data tools (AI-assisted workflows, novel dbt patterns), and a passion for community and mentorship are valuable additions.
Hex operates with office hubs in San Francisco and New York, plus remote team members. The culture emphasizes high agency, shipping fast, and having fun doing it.
