Checkout.com is a global fintech platform powering over 10 billion transactions yearly for companies like eBay, Spotify, Klarna, Uber, and Sony. As an Analyst I in Transaction Monitoring and Screening, you will execute day-to-day AML (Anti-Money Laundering) operations to mitigate financial crime risk through systematic review of merchant activity. Your core responsibilities include reviewing and investigating alerts generated by rule-based transaction monitoring systems, analyzing merchant transaction patterns to identify anomalous behavior, and conducting thorough due diligence. You will perform deep-dive research using internal systems, open-source intelligence (OSINT), and third-party databases to assess risk. You'll conduct background checks on merchants, leverage compliance tools, and draft suspicious activity reports in line with regulatory expectations. You will liaise with internal and external stakeholders to communicate investigation findings and reach out to merchants requesting additional information. You will maintain accurate record-keeping of customer databases, demonstrate proficiency in AML requirements and sanctions screening procedures, and strictly adhere to organizational policies. The role requires strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities, with an expectation to suggest process improvements and innovative ideas to enhance AML compliance operations. Successful candidates will have a bachelor's degree and 1-3 years of experience in similar compliance, AML, or transaction monitoring roles. You should be detail-oriented, capable of working independently with minimal supervision, and skilled at collaborating across departments. Experience with global AML requirements, payment processing, or e-commerce is beneficial. Fluency in English is required; additional languages (Mandarin, Japanese, French) are a plus. The role operates in a fast-paced, agile environment with demanding timelines and requires strong verbal and written communication skills to document findings clearly for stakeholders.
