Salary: CAD 55,000 - 75,000 / annual
Altus Group's Development Advisory business unit is hiring a Cost Planning Analyst to support cost consulting services for new and existing clients. Based in downtown Toronto, this role provides technical support across residential, rail, road, highway, aviation, commercial, institutional, and industrial projects.
You will assist senior staff with pre-contract activities including estimate development from concept through pre-tender stages, market benchmarking, and escalation analysis. Key responsibilities include construction estimating and quantity takeoffs using industry software (CostX, BlueBeam), site visits and estimating reports, construction cost/budget reconciliation, supplier and trade research with price database updates, and process improvement initiatives. You'll collaborate with internal and external partners to prepare proposals and reports, and escalate issues to management as needed.
The ideal candidate holds a degree or diploma in Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, Civil/Structural Engineering, or Building Science, with 1-2 years of experience in cost consulting, quantity surveying, or cost estimating. You should have a solid understanding of the construction industry (development, contracting, consulting sectors), construction schedules, and relevant standards (CIQS standard method of measurement, provincial lien acts, CCDC contract conditions). Proficiency with takeoff software, CAD, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint is expected. Strong teamwork, communication, and deadline management skills are essential.
