GitLab is seeking an AI Transformation Owner to shape the company's AI strategy and build solutions that deliver measurable business impact. This is a hybrid product management and hands-on technical role where you'll identify where AI can fundamentally change how your function operates, partner with executive sponsors to align on the biggest challenges, and drive outcomes against them.
You'll manage the full lifecycle of AI transformation: understanding current workflows, deciding where AI should reshape operations, prioritizing what gets built and in what order, and ensuring adoption. You'll prototype solutions, configure AI agents using no-code and low-code platforms (Glean, Workato, etc.), and prove what's possible before engaging engineering for scale.
Key responsibilities include owning your function's AI strategy aligned with business priorities; mapping end-to-end workflows to identify 100x opportunities where AI could enable orders-of-magnitude improvements; managing intake of AI requests and ideas from across the function; and driving strategic prioritization to ensure high-impact work. You'll work closely with an AI Engineer from the Enterprise AI team—you bring business context and process intelligence; they bring technical depth and production-grade delivery.
Adoption and change management are critical. You'll reimagine workflows rather than just automate them, drive adoption through channels and rituals that make AI visible, coordinate with Enterprise AI to share patterns and learnings, and build a Champion network across sub-teams (5-10% time commitment, not direct reports) to extend your reach. You'll host demos, run regular syncs, and act as the bridge between Champions and Enterprise AI.
Hands-on building includes configuring AI agents, testing workflows, documenting patterns, and iterating based on feedback. You'll also measure impact rigorously—defining metrics that matter, tracking progress, and communicating wins to the broader organization. This role requires comfort with ambiguity, strong communication skills, and the ability to balance strategic thinking with tactical execution.
