Payoneer is a global fintech platform serving 25M+ customers across 190+ countries, enabling businesses to pay and get paid globally. Founded in 2005 and listed on NASDAQ (PAYO), the company is actively rethinking how engineering works by embedding AI as a fundamental tool rather than a layer on top of existing processes.
You'll lead a small AI Pod at Payoneer's core engineering hub in Gurugram, operating with a radically different methodology. This is not a traditional team lead role managing existing processes—you're co-building the methodology as it evolves.
Your responsibilities include owning the full problem loop: understanding business challenges, defining solutions, architecting systems, shipping code, and monitoring production. You work directly with the business and your pod, with no hand-offs or ticket-driven workflows. Code you write Monday can reach production by Thursday.
You'll use AI as your primary development tool (Claude Code, Cursor, etc.) to achieve in a day what traditionally took teams a week. You co-design with your pod to define decision logic, risk thresholds, and success metrics—building capabilities, not just features. You establish evaluation frameworks as part of architecture, not afterthoughts. Production ownership is non-negotiable: monitoring, alerting, and observability are built in from day one, and you're on call for what you build.
You'll raise the bar across design reviews, code quality, and team methodology. This role demands someone energized by ambiguity and rapid iteration, not unsettled by it. You're curious, comfortable with incomplete information, and driven to ship impact quickly while maintaining rigor.
