Salary: USD 150,000 - 230,000 / annual
Vetcove is modernizing the $50B+ animal health industry with a suite of platforms serving 25,000+ veterinary hospitals across all 50 states. The company operates a market-leading procurement marketplace, ecommerce platform, and next-generation practice management system, backed by Y Combinator and top-tier venture investors.
As an AI Integrations Staff Engineer, you will lead the integration of cutting-edge AI models into Vetcove's existing products to enhance capabilities and user experience. This is a fully remote role with significant technical scope and influence across the engineering organization.
Key responsibilities include:
- Evaluating and selecting appropriate AI models based on business requirements
- Designing evaluation frameworks and configuring observability platforms for monitoring AI performance in production
- Collaborating with the data science team to fine-tune AI models for optimal product performance
- Developing and maintaining AI-powered application features using Python
- Testing and validating AI model performance in real-world scenarios and troubleshooting issues
- Staying current with AI advancements and identifying innovation opportunities
- Working directly with the CTO and engineering leadership to evolve the platform
Required qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
- 4+ years of software development experience with professionally successful production applications in modern web frameworks
- Strong knowledge of AI models, including agent SDKs, agent harnesses, and fine-tuning techniques
- Strong backend engineering fundamentals across various technologies
- Ability to design features around data models with accuracy, security, and performance considerations
- Collaborative team mentality
Note: This role focuses on integrating and fine-tuning existing AI models rather than designing new machine learning models from scratch.
