Salary: USD 130,000 - 170,000 / annual
Zip is an AI-powered enterprise procurement platform trusted by leading companies including T-Mobile, OpenAI, AMD, Mars, and Dollar Tree. The platform orchestrates procurement across teams, tools, and suppliers using AI agents, helping enterprises save billions in spend and process hundreds of billions in transactions.
As an AI Forward Deployed Engineer, you will be embedded directly within Zip's most strategic enterprise accounts, serving as the bridge between customer operations and Zip's AI infrastructure. You will own a small portfolio of enterprise accounts end-to-end, responsible for uncovering deep operational problems in procurement, finance, legal, and risk workflows that are difficult to identify from outside the organization.
Your core responsibilities include:
- Embedding with enterprise customers to understand their procurement and adjacent workflows at the process level, identifying where decisions break down and where the highest-ROI problems exist.
- Building and deploying custom AI agent solutions using Zip's AppStudio and AI infrastructure, tailored to each customer's specific environment and data rather than deploying off-the-shelf solutions.
- Owning the complete customer relationship and managing multiple concurrent workstreams across your account portfolio, maintaining delivery momentum and stakeholder trust.
- Identifying the next high-value problem worth solving before customers can articulate it, with commercial instinct to understand how solutions expand contract value.
- Producing architecture documentation that captures what was built, why it was built that way, and how to generalize solutions across other accounts.
- Feeding structured learnings back to product and engineering teams to make Zip's platform more repeatable and scalable.
- Representing Zip on-site at customer locations, running live testing and stakeholder sessions against real data and workflows.
Success is measured by whether customers' highest-priority problems get solved and whether that success earns you access to deeper, more strategic problems within each account.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- 3+ years working inside enterprise procurement, finance operations, or related functions in an operating role (Finance Systems, Procurement, Finance, etc.). You must have owned a finance process or technical stream end-to-end, not just advised on one.
- Direct experience building AI agents or automated workflows for your own work using tools such as Zip's AppStudio, Claude, N8N, Make, Zapier, or similar. You must be able to demonstrate something you built that is live and running.
- Track record of owning complex customer engagements independently from scoping through delivery, with accountability for outcomes rather than just outputs.
- Technical fluency sufficient to build integrations, read API documentation, and diagnose workflow failures without requiring an engineer on call.
- Procurement or finance domain knowledge sufficient to earn credibility quickly with AP Directors, CPOs, or CFOs. Formal credentials (CPP, CPSM, CPA, or equivalent) are a plus but not required.
- Previous team leadership experience is a plus.
