Port is an Agentic SDLC Platform that helps engineering teams build, govern, and operate the software development lifecycle using AI agents. Following a $100M Series C funding round, the company is in a growth and global expansion phase.
As AI Data Engineer, you will own the intelligence layer that enables Port's teams to ask complex data questions and receive trustworthy answers in plain language within seconds. You will be responsible for the semantic and AI-native surface of Port's Snowflake platform, including the governed semantic layer that defines metric meanings, Cortex Agents that allow business users to query data conversationally, and the infrastructure ensuring speed, reliability, and scalability.
Key ownership areas include:
**Snowflake Semantic Layer**: Design and maintain the semantic layer as the single source of truth for metrics. You will establish semantic models, enforce naming standards, and ensure consistent metric definitions across dashboards and AI agents.
**Cortex Agents**: Design and deploy conversational AI agents using Cortex Analyst and Cortex Search. You will tune for accuracy and safety, expose agents through multiple surfaces (Snowflake Intelligence, Streamlit, MCP), and build evaluation harnesses to maintain quality at scale.
**Analytics Guild Leadership**: Co-lead the technical track of the Analytics guild, setting SQL and modeling standards, running technical enablement and code reviews, and serving as the technical authority for analysts.
**Data Infrastructure Scaling**: Improve performance, reliability, cost efficiency, and governance across the dbt/Airflow/Airbyte/Snowflake stack as data volume and query load grow. Optimize warehouse sizing, medallion layers, and ingestion pipelines.
Day-to-day responsibilities include modeling and maintaining semantic views, building and iterating on Cortex Agents with focus on retrieval quality and guardrails, extending dbt models and Airflow DAGs, partnering with GTM, Finance, CS, and Product teams to translate business questions into governed data assets, running the Data Analyst guild, owning data quality and cost monitoring, and exposing data through Streamlit apps and BI tools.
