BytePlus, ByteDance's enterprise technology division, is seeking an AI and Cloud Solution Architect Lead to drive AI adoption across enterprise customers in Japan. This role bridges technical innovation and commercial success, combining hands-on AI solution development with customer-facing leadership.
You will lead pre-sales and solution design efforts, partnering with the Japan regional sales team to identify customer challenges and translate them into scalable AI solutions. You'll conduct technical demos, architect RFI/RFP responses, and design proof-of-concept (PoC) engagements. A key responsibility is driving PoC-to-production conversion, ensuring measurable business impact and customer success.
On the technical side, you'll participate in or lead the design and implementation of generative AI applications, including large language models (LLMs), retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) systems, AI agents, and multimodal solutions. You'll design end-to-end system architectures covering model orchestration, knowledge base construction, vector database integration, API connectivity, and system integration. You'll evaluate performance in production environments (accuracy, latency, cost, scalability) and optimize prompt structures, inference workflows, and caching strategies.
You'll act as the technical lead in customer engagements, supporting commercial discussions and technical negotiations. You'll collaborate with sales to drive deal closure, support account expansion (upsell/cross-sell), and own both technical quality and commercial success of assigned projects. Building long-term trusted relationships with enterprise clients is essential.
You'll also serve as a bridge between the frontline and product/engineering teams, providing structured feedback on market needs. You'll drive localization and optimization of products for Japan, identify repeatable AI solution patterns, and contribute to developing industry solution frameworks.
Minimum qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field; 5+ years in AI solutions, technical consulting, or related roles with at least 2 years of people management experience; enterprise-level project experience; strong software engineering capability; familiarity with generative AI technologies (LLMs, RAG, agents, multimodal models); and cloud deployment experience (Docker, Kubernetes, major cloud platforms).
Preferred: Transformer architecture and prompt engineering knowledge; knowledge base and vector database experience; familiarity with frameworks like LangChain or LlamaIndex; inference optimization expertise; production-ready AI system architecture design; hands-on generative AI/multimodal model experience; ability to translate technical capabilities into business value; experience scaling solutions 0-to-1 and replicating across accounts; and Python proficiency.
