Decagon is a conversational AI platform enabling enterprises to deploy AI agents for customer support and operations. The company works with Fortune 500 customers including Avis, Block (Cash App/Square), Chime, and Oura Health, backed by a16z, Accel, Bain Capital Ventures, Coatue, and Index Ventures.
The Agent Data Science team sits within Agent Product Management and focuses on the company's largest and most complex deployments. You will own how AI agent performance is defined, measured, and demonstrated to multiple stakeholder groups within customer organizations—from senior leaders to technical teams—each with different success criteria.
In this senior individual contributor role, you will work directly with customers to establish what should be measured, then build the metrics and reporting infrastructure to operationalize those definitions. You own both performance reporting and improvement, working alongside Product Managers, Strategy Managers, Account Directors, and Deployment Engineers. You will also build product features and frameworks that enable the broader organization to conduct this work independently.
Key responsibilities include: translating customer requirements into operationalized metrics; owning transparent data delivery to reinforce customer narratives; diagnosing performance drivers and designing experiments to improve key metrics; scoping and building product features and tools; defining success for novel initiatives with no precedent; and running tight feedback loops with Product, Engineering, and Research teams.
The role combines quantitative rigor, executive advisory presence, and founder-level ownership. You will operate with high autonomy, make high-stakes decisions independently, and shape the approach as much as you implement it. The work compounds: metrics you define on flagship deployments become defaults for subsequent deals, and frameworks you build influence the long-term product roadmap.
