Tern is a venture-backed software company reshaping the $127B travel agency industry by modernizing back-office operations for small travel businesses. The Agency Product Lead owns the entire agency product suite—commission reconciliation at scale, agent booking submission, multi-user accounting workflows, reporting, and permissions—serving the largest agencies in the industry as they migrate from decades-old legacy systems.
This is a hands-on, embedded role requiring deep customer engagement. For the first two quarters, you'll spend as much time on sales calls, implementation onsites, and success escalations as you do with engineering. You'll scope feature gaps, own technical commitments, and drive large agency transitions to completion. The role combines full-cycle product management (customer research, PRDs, spec writing) with direct engineering unblocking on a small, focused team.
Key responsibilities include: running the product side of enterprise agency migrations and launch playbooks; embedding with sales and success on high-stakes deals; owning commission reconciliation, booking submission, and back-office workflows; leading the agency product into new markets with regulatory mapping; and taking ownership of reporting and collaboration features—the two most-requested areas from mid-market agencies.
You'll need proven enterprise launch ownership (high-stakes B2B migrations or go-lives where you were accountable when things broke), deep expertise in complex financial workflows (reconciliation, billing, invoicing, back-office accounting), an embedded GTM operating style (credible with customer operations and finance leaders), and end-to-end ownership capability at a small company (your own research, specs, and engineering unblocking). Bonus experience includes travel industry back-office exposure, taking B2B products into new markets, vertical SaaS at Series A/B, or close collaboration with implementation and data migration teams.
Tern values continuous learning, optimistic agency, and operational excellence—shipping value weekly with compounding habits. The culture emphasizes deep user understanding, embracing complexity through better questions, speaking up with healthy tension, and moving fast while sweating details.
