Fold is a Bitcoin financial services company that went public in February 2025. The company offers FDIC-insured checking accounts, Bitcoin exchange and wallet services, merchant rewards programs, and Bitcoin-rewards debit and credit cards. As Accounting Manager, you will own the day-to-day accounting operations, ensuring accurate and timely transaction recording and audit-ready books each period.
You will execute monthly accounting closes under the Controller's direction, support quarterly SEC filings, and manage accounts payable, accounts receivable, and treasury functions. This is a hands-on role suited to someone who wants deep ownership of the details that make a public company's books defensible and who is excited to grow as Fold scales.
Key responsibilities include: executing the monthly close process (journal entries, general ledger maintenance, close checklists); preparing and reviewing balance sheet reconciliations (bank accounts, prepaid/accrued balances, corporate and customer Bitcoin holdings against custodial and on-chain records); managing AP/AR including vendor and contractor payments, invoicing, and cash application; supporting technical accounting areas (stock-based compensation, revenue recognition, fixed asset/lease accounting) as directed by the Controller; preparing supporting schedules and PBC requests for external audit and quarterly review; assisting with SOX control execution and documentation for accounting team processes; identifying and implementing process improvements to increase close speed and accuracy; and training, reviewing, and providing guidance to accounting staff or contractors.

Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree or above in Accounting
- 5+ years of accounting experience, including hands-on general ledger, reconciliation, and close ownership
- Direct experience with SEC reporting and public-company close cycles; prior experience at a public company or in an audit role of a public company
- Solid working knowledge of U.S. GAAP and comfort operating in a company with SOX-level control expectations
- Proven people-management experience leading accounting staff
- High attention to detail and strong ownership mentality
- Clear written and verbal communication
- CPA or CPA candidate preferred
- Permanent legal authorization to work in the United States (no visa sponsorship available)
