The Accounting Manager will oversee all accounting operations and report to the Controller. This is a key leadership role in building a best-in-class accounting function to support the company's next growth stage.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage full-cycle accounting operations including month-end close, revenue recognition, accounts payable, fixed assets and capital expenditures, payroll, and cash management
- Build and implement AI workflows and automation tools to eliminate manual work, leveraging the company's ERP and adjacent systems (AP automation, close management software) to reduce completion time and increase accuracy
- Drive process improvement across all accounting functions and entities for efficiency and scalability
- Develop scalable internal controls and design a SOX-ready control framework in anticipation of future compliance requirements
- Manage and improve financial reporting, analyze financial data, and present accounting insights to leadership
- Collaborate with the finance team on monthly financial analysis, budget preparation, and variance analysis
- Serve as a trusted business partner to key stakeholders, providing analysis and process improvement recommendations
- Support annual audit and tax compliance; manage external auditor relationships, PBC requests, and technical accounting matters
- Track and improve accounting KPIs
- Stay current on accounting pronouncements and inform management of new requirements and changes
The role emphasizes cross-functional collaboration with FP&A, Strategic Finance, and Sales teams. Eight Sleep operates with high intensity and expects team members to be deeply committed to excellence.
Requirements:
- Active CPA license (required)
- Public accounting firm experience required (Big 4 or large regional firm); audit background strongly preferred
- Corporate/private company accounting experience required in addition to public accounting background
- At least 5–7 years of progressive accounting and managerial experience
- Experience building and utilizing AI workflows and agents to automate everyday tasks
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
