Neara is building AI-powered digital twins of electricity grids across four continents to help utilities stress-test infrastructure, optimize investments, and build resilience against extreme weather and structural challenges. This is a hands-on accounting role managing day-to-day finance operations for Neara's Australian and UK entities. You will own accounts payable and expenses processing, including supplier invoice coding and approval workflows via Traild, employee expense reimbursements through Airwallex, and ensuring timely payments. You'll perform weekly bank reconciliations across all accounts, investigate discrepancies, and maintain general ledger coding with proper GST/VAT allocation. Quarterly BAS preparation and submission to the ATO will be your responsibility. Payroll duties include monthly AUD payroll processing (STP-compliant), supporting employee queries, and maintaining accurate records. You'll contribute to month-end close activities—accruals, prepayments, general ledger maintenance, and fixed asset register updates—while assisting with close packs and management reporting. The role suits an ambitious, self-directed accountant with 2–4 years of experience in accounting or finance (AP, bookkeeping, or assistant accountant level). You should be working toward or hold CA/CPA qualification, be proficient with Xero or similar cloud accounting software, and have a solid grasp of GST, BAS, and Australian payroll. Strong attention to detail, ability to manage competing deadlines, and a collaborative mindset are essential. Nice-to-haves include month-end task exposure, experience with Airwallex/Dext/Traild/ApprovalMax, fast-growth or multi-entity international environment experience, and UK bookkeeping/VAT/HMRC knowledge. You'll have direct access to the Financial Controller, real influence over finance operations, and the opportunity to develop technical skills in a fast-paced, innovative technology business making tangible climate impact. The company offers competitive salary, meaningful ESOP, and fully flexible working arrangements with a well-stocked Redfern office.
