Everlab is building the future of preventive health, and we're looking for an Accountant to own the transactional accounting function across our Australian, New Zealand, and UK entities. You'll be the second person on a finance team that runs on an AI-first stack (Xero, Airwallex, Notion, Claude) designed to automate repetitive work rather than repeat it forever.
You'll report to the Financial Controller and take ownership of the engine room: accounts payable across three inboxes (AU, NZ, UK), daily reconciliation, accounts receivable, month-end journals, and compliance obligations. Your responsibilities include processing supplier bills, maintaining a daily reconciled Xero ledger, clearing the AP inbox daily, coding decisions in Airwallex, raising accurate invoices, chasing overdue receivables, and keeping supplier and customer onboarding consistent across platforms.
Beyond day-one transactional work, you'll solve systemic problems: identifying and fixing broken processes, documenting workflows, migrating bill processing from Dext into Airwallex, building out a coding guide, creating a compliance calendar across jurisdictions, managing inter-company recharges, and preparing indirect tax returns (BAS/GST/VAT). You'll also support the external audit process.
The role is hands-on and detail-oriented. You'll take real satisfaction in a quiet ledger and clear inbox, and you'd rather build a rule than do a task twice. You'll be the source of truth in Slack for payment status and supplier questions, and you'll work closely with internal and external stakeholders.
Everlab offers hybrid working (3 days per week in office), work-life flexibility, full access to the Everlab health program after probation, and an Employee Share Option Plan.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 5+ years hands-on experience across the full ledger as an accountant, assistant accountant, or in a senior role owning AP, AR, month-end, or similar
- Deep foundational accounting knowledge; ability to spot incorrect coding at a glance
- Accuracy as a habit; you check your own work and find your own mistakes
- Xero fluency; comfort with Airwallex and similar tools; ability to learn software and configure settings
- Genuine AI curiosity; you've built something in AI (however small) and can assess where it fell short
- Systems thinking and tech savvy; you reach for rules and automation when you see a problem twice; you pick up new tools quickly
- Discretion and judgment about confidential information
- Strong organizational and note-taking skills
- Service instinct; ability to provide fast, kind, accurate answers to internal and external customers
- Excellent teammate; communicates with kindness, receives direct feedback well, acknowledges mistakes, knows when to disagree and commit
NICE TO HAVES:
- Multi-entity or multi-currency experience (AU, NZ, UK)
- Tax compliance background (GST, BAS, VAT)
- Exposure to external audit processes
- Startup, healthcare, or investor-backed company experience
