Archer Technologies is an aerospace company building all-electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft designed to carry four passengers with minimal noise. As a Wire Harness Designer, you will be responsible for creating comprehensive wiring diagrams and harness documentation using industry-standard CAD tools including Mentor Graphics Capital, Logic, and HarnessXC.
Your responsibilities include designing wire harnesses that meet aerospace standards (AC 43.13-1B, AS50881, ASTM F2639) and implementing communication protocols such as ARINC, CAN, Ethernet, and Serial. You will collaborate closely with avionics, power plant, and electrical engineering teams to define system architecture, wiring connections, grounding schemes, and EMI mitigation strategies. You'll generate specialized wiring designs for test lab environments, including tap-ins, relays, data logging, switches, and power supplies.
You will maintain and expand the electrical component library within the CAD toolset, select optimal industry-standard components for specific applications, and assist in lab bring-up and testing operations. Strong configuration and change management skills are essential as you produce and modify wiring designs within the aircraft design framework. You'll also provide technical guidance on rework instructions when needed.
The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field, with 3+ years of hands-on experience in aircraft wiring design and fabrication. Proficiency with Mentor Graphics Capital, HarnessXC, and Logic is required, along with practical knowledge of harness fabrication, installation, and inspection processes. Bonus qualifications include expertise in lightning protection, HIRF (High Intensity Radiated Fields), and grounding on composite aircraft.
