Sleeper is a rapidly expanding fantasy sports platform serving millions of users across NFL, NBA, LCS, and soccer. The company operates Sleeper Picks, a real-money Daily Fantasy Sports game, and is backed by top Silicon Valley investors. You will own the web experience for Sleeper's core fantasy sports product—season-long leagues, drafts, matchups, live scoring, and the social layer connecting them. The platform experiences significant traffic spikes on game days and operates on a fixed season calendar, requiring robust, scalable engineering. The tech stack is React and TypeScript with Tailwind, React Query, and Next.js. You'll collaborate with designers to translate user requirements into technical specifications, write clean and maintainable code, and build fluid, responsive interfaces with strong emphasis on animation and gesture work. Responsibilities include troubleshooting complex performance and data-caching issues, developing reusable UI components, integrating front-end with back-end services via REST or GraphQL APIs, and staying current with React best practices and accessibility guidelines. You are an active fantasy sports player with 5+ years of web application development experience, React as your primary framework, and a proven track record building and owning large-scale consumer-facing applications. You have a strong eye for interaction detail and depth in animation and gesture work on the web. You thrive in fast-paced, ambiguous environments and can both extend existing codebases and stand up new surfaces. A Computer Science degree or equivalent experience is required. The role offers a salary range of $160,000–$220,000 USD based on experience, plus medical, dental, PTO, and 401(k). You'll work in a small, impactful team environment with genuine opportunity to shape a best-in-class product.
