Signal Advisors is a fintech company reimagining wealth management and retirement planning. The company has grown from a small Detroit-based team in 2020 to over 140 team members across the country, backed by venture investors.
The Wealth Onboarding Specialist will be the operational point person guiding registered investment advisors (RIAs) and investment advisor representatives (IARs) through the process of bringing their book of business to Signal Wealth. This is a high-stakes, detail-intensive role focused on coordinating and executing smooth transitions from kickoff through go-live.
Key responsibilities include:
- Serve as the main operational contact for advisors throughout their transition, tracking timelines and milestones to ensure on-schedule delivery
- Manage client account and asset transfers with custodians like Fidelity and Schwab, handling both ACAT and non-ACAT transfers
- Prepare and review advisory documents and client data to ensure paperwork accuracy on first submission
- Resolve transition roadblocks—rejected paperwork, missing data, custodian delays—by working directly with custodians via phone and platform
- Maintain proactive communication with advisors, internal teams, and vendors on transition status
- Identify process friction and implement improvements using AI and automation to shorten each transition stage
Within 90 days, you'll manage multiple advisor transitions independently. Within a year, you'll own transitions end-to-end and have measurably shortened cycle times. You'll report to the Wealth Onboarding Manager and collaborate daily with the Wealth Onboarding & Transitions team, Wealth Operations, Sales, Advisor Success, and Investment Solutions.
The role is based in Detroit, MI, with 3 days per week in the office.
Required Qualifications:
- Hands-on experience running advisor or account transitions at an RIA or broker-dealer, from kickoff through accounts transferred
- Working knowledge of Fidelity and/or Schwab custodial platforms, including ACAT and non-ACAT transfers and custodian paperwork
- Track record of managing multiple transitions or projects simultaneously without missing deadlines
- Clear, proactive written communication with advisors and partners; composure in handling tense conversations
- Composure under pressure when resolving custodian rejections and advisor frustrations
- Proactive communication style—sending status updates before being asked
- Ability to thrive with multiple moving pieces, tight deadlines, and high stakes
- Attention to detail at scale—managing large and small books simultaneously without dropping details
- Ownership mentality—digging in to move stalled transfers forward independently
Nice to Have:
- Series 65 or 66 license
- Experience with Orion, Salesforce, or similar portfolio, billing, and CRM systems
- Experience running re-paper transitions, not only custodian-to-custodian moves
- Experience using AI tools to catch errors, document, or improve onboarding or transition processes
