This V&V Engineer role owns the mechanical verification and validation program for autonomous vehicle platforms. You will characterize vehicles and derive mechanical requirements with full traceability to test evidence, then plan and execute comprehensive functional and performance testing including vibration, shock, thermal, and environmental assessments on prototypes and production-intent hardware. You'll build and maintain custom test fixturing as needed.
Key responsibilities include identifying and troubleshooting mechanical functionality and performance issues, leading root cause analysis, and driving corrective actions to closure. You'll partner closely with design, systems, quality, and software engineers to integrate mechanical V&V and Design for Test principles into the broader program, documenting and presenting results to drive improvements.
You'll manage all compliance testing and certification activities under ISO 26262 and UL 4600, planning and executing critical tests per SAE J1455, ISO 16750, UL, CE, IEC, and OEM standards. You'll coordinate with external accredited laboratories for pre-compliance and formal certification, oversee test failure analysis, and maintain detailed compliance documentation.
Beyond execution, you'll build and evolve Waabi's mechanical V&V methodology, lab capability, and toolchain. You'll assess new OEM DV/PV processes and advise leadership on effort, complexity, and cost implications.
Required: 5+ years in mechanical V&V, preferably automotive or heavy vehicle; BS in Engineering; deep understanding of automotive DV/PV, PPAP, and APQP processes; direct OEM and Tier 1/2 supplier experience; working knowledge of ASTM B117, SAE J1455, MIL-STD-810, and AEC standards; ability to characterize vehicles for environmental requirements.
