Salary: USD 207,000 - 279,000 / annual
Adyen is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead the Personalize Intelligence team, which develops and owns the machine learning systems behind Adyen Checkout optimization—a real-time decision engine that helps merchants increase shopper conversion rates and deliver seamless checkout experiences. This team is the foundation of Adyen Uplift, an AI product suite used by many of Adyen's customers to optimize conversion, fraud prevention, and cost.
In this role, you will build, mentor, and coach a diverse team of machine learning scientists and data engineers. You'll drive technical architecture strategy, provide hands-on technical leadership, and raise the bar through active mentoring and guidance. You'll work cross-functionally with Design, Product, Data Engineers, ML Engineers, Developers, and other key stakeholders to streamline engineering operations and refine product requirements.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading the team with hands-on technical leadership and mentoring
- Working cross-functionally to design and implement new services with reliability, infrastructure, and data considerations
- Setting clear individual and team goals aligned with strategic engineering ambitions in collaboration with product management
- Creating an inclusive team culture focused on autonomy, ownership, collaboration, and impact
- Recruiting new team members who align with Adyen's culture and required skills
- Maintaining open communication and feedback culture
- Collaborating with senior leadership to set strategic direction and product roadmaps
You should have proven experience working with and deep understanding of machine learning products, affinity for shopper and checkout optimization domains, and experience creating alignment between multiple teams. You'll define, implement, and monitor performance metrics to identify improvement opportunities in existing systems. Strong communication skills—both technical and non-technical—are essential.
Minimum qualifications: 2+ years managing machine learning engineering teams in mission-critical environments; 7+ years in ML/AI tech environments.
