Apple's Security Engineering & Architecture organization is seeking a Vulnerability Researcher to join its team dedicated to safeguarding Apple products across the entire stack—from microarchitecture to applications like Safari, Mail, and Messages. You will conduct vulnerability research on Apple software, firmware, and hardware components, analyzing and exploiting vulnerabilities to identify security gaps before they can be exploited maliciously. Your responsibilities will span evaluating the security of iOS and macOS (kernel and user-land), boot ROMs, firmware, and hardware. You will collaborate with diverse teams and vendors across Apple's product ecosystem, including iPhone, iPad, Mac, and Apple TV, ensuring your work has impact at massive scale—protecting over a billion devices worldwide. The role demands strong technical expertise in vulnerability research and binary exploitation, with a deep understanding of common vulnerability classes and exploitation techniques. You should be a creative problem-solver with excellent analytical skills and the ability to communicate findings clearly both in writing and verbally. Preferred qualifications include excellent knowledge of complex operating system security architecture (macOS/iOS experience is valued but not required), hands-on experience with reverse-engineering tools such as IDA Pro or Ghidra, and familiarity with tool development using C, C++, Python, Swift, or Objective-C. This is a role for someone genuinely passionate about securing systems by demonstrating their vulnerabilities and protecting users at scale.
