Burq is seeking a VP of Supply to lead operational excellence across its delivery network. Reporting to the Head of Commercial, you will own end-to-end provider relationships and supply strategy, build and lead a growing supply team, and partner with executive leadership to ensure supply capabilities align with business growth.
Key responsibilities include:
- Understand the complete delivery flow from pickup to drop-off, identify friction points, and determine whether fixes require operational, process, or technical solutions at the provider level
- Develop and articulate the overall strategy and long-term vision for Burq's supply network, including expansion priorities, provider selection, and network structure for reliability and cost efficiency
- Build, lead, and develop a high-performing supply team as the network scales
- Own critical delivery service provider relationships, managing both day-to-day partnerships and commercial negotiations
- Hold providers accountable to strong service levels (on-time performance, coverage, quality) and manage performance reviews and escalations
- Proactively identify gaps in supply coverage—geographic, capacity, or capability—and lead closure efforts
- Represent supply strategy and performance to executive leadership; partner closely with Customer Success, Sales, Product, Engineering, and Support to align supply with customer needs and product roadmap
- Own the supply budget and make prioritization decisions across providers, markets, and initiatives
- Own and report on key supply metrics (cost per delivery, on-time performance, coverage, provider mix) against company-level goals
- Use AI tools daily—analyzing provider performance data, monitoring supply health, automating reporting—as a core part of how you and your team operate
Requirements:
- Track record of operational excellence with deep understanding of end-to-end delivery lifecycle and demonstrated ability to identify and resolve friction points through operational, process, or technical improvements at the provider level
- 8–12+ years in supply chain, logistics operations, or partner/vendor management, ideally with direct experience managing delivery provider or carrier relationships
- Experience building, leading, and developing a team, with a track record of scaling a function as a business grows
- Experience partnering with and presenting to executive leadership; comfortable owning a budget and making tradeoff decisions
- Proven experience negotiating commercial terms and managing performance with external partners or vendors
- Strategic thinker able to develop and articulate long-term vision for a supply network, not just manage day-to-day operations
- Comfortable holding partners accountable and having direct conversations about performance gaps to drive resolution
- Strong cross-functional leader able to align Customer Success, Sales, Product, Engineering, and Support around shared supply strategy
- Data-driven; comfortable analyzing provider and network performance data to identify gaps and opportunities
- Comfortable working with APIs and technical integrations; able to understand how delivery/logistics platforms connect and speak credibly with technical stakeholders
- Growth mindset; treats ambiguity and problems as things to solve, not blockers to escalate
- AI-native; actively and fluently uses AI tools (Claude, ChatGPT, etc.) in daily work and quick to adopt new AI tooling
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills
- Comfortable with ambiguity, change, and building processes from scratch in a startup environment
Nice to have:
- Experience in last-mile delivery, courier, or gig-economy operations, as well as freight (LTL, FTL, parcel, middle-mile) and how those modes interact with the last mile
- Experience working directly with dispatch, routing, or supply chain software platforms
- Experience building or scaling a supply/provider network from early stage
- Prior experience as a people leader or functional head at a high-growth startup
