Nitra is a fintech company building an ecosystem of software solutions to help healthcare practices operate more efficiently. The company was founded by unicorn-track founders with experience scaling to $1B+ exits, backed by top-tier VCs (Andreessen Horowitz, NEA), and is on a trajectory toward unicorn status.
As VP of People, you will own and scale the people function during a critical growth phase, reporting to company leadership. This is a senior, highly cross-functional leadership role combining strategic judgment with hands-on operational execution.
Key responsibilities:
- Own and scale people strategy across hiring, onboarding, performance management, and employee experience during high-growth phase
- Partner with executive leadership and department heads to translate business goals into headcount plans, org design, and people priorities
- Lead end-to-end recruiting strategy, including hiring frameworks, workforce planning, and bar-setting across GTM, Product, and Operations
- Build and standardize hiring processes, role definitions, scorecards, and interview practices to ensure consistency, fairness, and high talent density
- Develop and maintain metrics and dashboards for hiring, retention, performance, and engagement; report insights to leadership
- Design and implement scalable onboarding, performance, and manager enablement programs
- Coach and support hiring managers and people leaders on interviewing, feedback, performance conversations, and team development
- Own foundational people infrastructure, including job leveling, documentation, policies, and tooling as the company scales
- Serve as steward of company culture and values in hiring, development, and retention
The company operates with a hybrid model: four days in-office, Wednesdays work-from-home. The team includes experienced hires from American Express, Citi, PayPal, Capsule, Plaid, Bloomberg, Meta, and Mastercard.
Requirements:
- 8+ years of experience in People Operations, Talent, or HR, including Director-level or equivalent senior experience
- Proven experience scaling small companies to mid-sized organizations (50–300 people) in short timespan across multiple geographies and countries
- Experience partnering with executives and senior leaders in fast-growing startup or scale-up environment
- Ability to maintain high-velocity, fast-paced culture across departments through major growth milestones
- Experience managing complex compensation plans across different function types
- Strong judgment balancing strategic thinking with hands-on execution
- Deep experience building and scaling recruiting and people systems from early-stage to growth-stage
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills across all organizational levels
- Comfort owning ambiguity and setting direction where processes don't yet exist
- Experience with modern ATS and HR tooling (e.g., Lever, Greenhouse, HRIS platforms)
- Experience supporting both GTM and technical organizations
