Fourier is developing on-site hydrogen production technology with a modular, fully automated architecture designed to scale to any size while maintaining optimized efficiency across all load levels. The company is focused on transitioning the global energy landscape toward sustainable, emission-free solutions.
You will serve as VP of Business Development, reporting directly to the CEO and functioning as a core leadership member defining Fourier's commercial growth strategy and implementation. This is a "player-coach" role suited for the early commercialization stage: you will be a hands-on individual contributor closing Fourier's first major deployments while simultaneously building and scaling a world-class business development team as the company grows.
Key responsibilities include:
- Owning the top-of-funnel Go-To-Market strategy, building initial pipeline into new use cases such as power storage and data centers, and refining the Ideal Customer Profile (ICP)
- Acting as the primary closer for early deployments, leading commercial negotiations, pilot agreements, and offtake agreements while shaping pricing strategy
- Owning the commercial roadmap and supporting capital-raising efforts
- Building and scaling a high-performing business development team and developing future leaders
- Supporting other team members on customer meetings and visits as needed
- Defining commercial goals and targets for the group and ensuring company-wide commercial targets are met
- Identifying and coordinating Fourier's participation in industry events, associations, trade shows, and conferences
- Driving a strong commercial culture focused on agency, accountability, and velocity
- Engaging in continuous performance management to coach, recognize, and inspire excellence
- Developing a collaborative, people-driven culture that enables individual growth
Travel requirement: 50%+ travel to visit customer locations and attend industry events.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree or advanced degree in economics, business, marketing, or related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred
- 10+ years of experience in commercial leadership roles
- Demonstrated experience building a lean, high-performing commercial team from the ground up, with a track record of hiring and growing customer-facing teams (early-stage startup experience a plus)
- Track record as a hands-on individual contributor securing early revenue and meeting/exceeding assigned commercial targets
- Experience selling and deploying industrial-grade services and products
- Experience drafting, reviewing, and negotiating commercial contracts
- Deep organizational capabilities in influence, collaboration, and communication
- Experience with renewable energy production and backup power systems in heavy industries, data centers, and energy-intensive environments (a plus)
- Prior experience selling or working with industrial gases (a plus)
- Experience setting and implementing performance-based compensation plans
- Ability to travel 50%+ of the time
